Analysis of Rail Response Reduction of Rail Particle Impact Damper through on Field Measurement

초록

Rolling noise, a type of railway noise, is generated by the vibration of rails and wheels. A proper noise reduction method for rolling noise is necessary. In this paper, experimental analysis was conducted on rail response reduction effect of a rail impact particle damper to reduce rolling noise. A comparison of rail responses before and after installation of the impact particle damper was performed. It was confirmed that the rail displacement decreased by an average of 15% and the stress decreased by about 19% after installation of the damper. It was also confirmed that the rail acceleration decreased by 27%. It was confirmed that the impact particle damper is effective not only at reducing rolling noise but also at reducing rail responses such as acceleration, displacement, and stress.
