초록
Recently, the development of eco-friendly and sustainable transit systems that can offer demand-responsive transport services is being facilitated. The personal rapid transit (PRT) has been widely recognized as one of the promising new transportation systems to provide passengers with optimized direct routes to their destinations along with its potential for possibly zero-emission or relief of traffic congestion. In particular, its competitiveness is being improved through convergence with cutting-edge electric vehicle (EV) technologies. The Korean PRT system is a battery (or supercapacitor)-powered vehicle, and electric energy is supplied only in a stationary position at a station (impossible during its operation). So, it is very important to efficiently manage the battery power during driving mode. In this study, the possibility of flexible photovoltaic (PV) cells as an auxiliary power supplier is experimentally reviewed by small-scale demonstrations. This type is advantageous in terms of design considerations due to its inexpensive, lightweight, as well as flexible characteristics.
