Bi-directional Operation in Railway System

If a railway line is broken or train is stopped in a section, the railway operation is inevitably stopped because train is usually operated in one line. In this case train is operated to use the other line following the indication of signal man with limited low speed. This method makes delay of train operation and loss of traffic. Bi-directional equipment makes train operate without indication of signalman. Several signaling system is used in the railway system. Each equipment can be operated bi-directionally adding some equipment. The main purpose of this study is to verify and analyze the availability of the bi-directional operation that is able to operate without the line indication and to offer a realizably alternative method to improve this situation. In order to carry out this study, we concentrated on getting information to adopt the bi-directional operation to existing line. The technology survey of other countries signaling system and the technical analysis of the equipment were performed. As a result of this study, the required system and effect of the bi-directional operation system were represented.
