Study on Adhesion Performance and Micro-structure of Polymer Mortar for Concrete Maintenance

초록

Polymer mortar has been mainly used to repair or reinforce concrete structures due to its superb mechanical properties and durability. Since the repair work is conducted by overlaying the damaged surface of the concrete with the repair material, the adhesion performance of the polymer mortar should be carefully evaluated. Here, the influence of the polymer content on the mechanical properties of the polymer mortar was experimentally studied. Simultaneously, the adhesion mechanism was investigated by observing the interface between polymer mortar and concrete surface. Microstructure analysis was conducted to quantify the interfacial porosity and hydration degree of the polymer mortar. The test results show that the adhesion strength increased as the polymer content increased, while no remarkable effect was observed in compressive performance. In the microstructure analysis, the interfacial porosity decreased and the hydration degree increased with increasing polymer content of mortar. Thus, it was confirmed that high polymer content densifies the interfacial pore structure, consequently contributing to the enhancement of the adhesion performance.
