초록

Dynamic increase factor (DIF) models are widely used to characterize high strain rate behavior of concrete, but their applicability is often questioned because many were developed using mortar data. To address this limitation, this study employed the material- and member-level tests to analyze the dynamic behavior of both mortar and concrete specimens under high-rate loading. Split Hopkinson pressure bar (SHPB) and drop-weight impact tests were conducted using specimens designed for similar target static compressive strengths. The compressive and splitting tensile DIFs from SHPB tests were nearly identical for both materials, indicating that mortarbased DIF models can effectively represent the dynamic properties of concrete. Furthermore, the drop-weight impact tests reinforced this conclusion, demonstrating significant similarities in the impact behaviors of mortar and concrete beams. These findings support the applicability of mortar-based DIF models to concrete structural design.
