Study on Effects of Door Opening on Cabin Temperature Drop of Urban Transit Car under Winter Season Climatic Conditions

초록

Thermal comfort of passengers is lowered due to inflow of cold outside air with the opening of passenger doors in urban transit cars during winter. In this study, the effects of door opening, without any passengers, on the cabin temperature drop were experimentally studied using a real-scale climatic chamber for a railcar. Cabin temperature changes at 15 points in the cabin were monitored while door opening time was varied from 15 to 90 s. It was found that the temperature drop was higher when the duration time of door opening was longer. So, the minimization of door opening duration was required to minimize temperature drop. Temperature changes on the horizontal plane were relatively small, while those on vertical plane was quite large. It was found that the cold outdoor air comes into the cabin through the lower part of the door, and warm cabin air goes out through the higher part of the door. Therefore, the minimization of the cold outdoor air inflow through the lower part of door is required to reduce the decrease in thermal comfort of passengers.
