초록
Recently, there has been increased interests in public safety due to various damages caused by accidents on social infrastructures and large-scale transportation systems. Generally, electrical resistance sensors are used for Structural health monitoring (SHM), which refers to a technology that monitors the state of a structure in real time based on numerous physical data obtained by various sensors. However, advanced sensors like fiber optic sensors have been developed and replaced with conventional resistance type sensors due to their many advantages such as long-distance capability, EMI immunity, multiplexing easiness, and etc. However, it was hard to commercialize fiber optic sensors in railroad applications so far since their types are limited and are not cost effective to construct a measurement site. Moreover, in the case of large-scale social infrastructures, wired communication like ethernet requires large amount of cost for installation of the long-distance cable and maintenance. In order to overcome these problems, the authors developed a hybrid measurement system which integrates the commercial electrical sensors and optical sensors with IoT-based wireless communication technology in this study. In addition, feasibility of the hybrid measurement system is evaluated using both types of sensors in railroad sites. It is expected that effective SHM by this system would improve the safety on large-scale infrastructures including railways.
