Transmitters of Wireless Power Transfer (WPT) systems are devices that supply power by creating a strong magnetic field. When WPT system is applied to railway, voltage can be induced in rails by the magnetic field. A track circuit is always attached to the rails, and the role of the track circuit is to determine locations of trains or to determine track damage. The track circuit is a device that transmits signals using the rails as transmission lines. Therefore, it is necessary to study effects of WPT on the track circuit. In this paper, the induced voltage of the transmitter and receiver of the track circuit was studied when WPT was used for a track circuit model through electromagnetic simulation. When a current of 500 A and 60 kHz was used in the transmitter coil of the WPT system, the induced voltage in the track circuit was 48 V for a 20 m length of the coil and 110 m length of track circuit. Through simulation, it was confirmed that the track circuit length and induced voltage were inversely proportional. Based on these results, it was suggested that, to reduce the induced voltage, it is necessary to separate the track circuit and the transmitter coil, or to use a filter.
