Prediction of Vibro-acoustic Performance of Extruded Panels in Railway Vehicles Using Statistical Energy Analysis

초록

To manage the interior noise in train carriages in the early design stage, an effective tool that can predict the vibro-acoustic behaviour of aluminum extruded panels is necessary. Conventional finite element and boundary element (FE/BE) methods, however, are only applicable to low frequency range due to the complicated shape and large size of the concerned panels. It is possible to use another numerical method, called the wavenumber finite element and boundary element(WFE/BE) methods an alternative, but this method still requires considerable computing time. So, the WFE/BE method is not much efficient, especially in the early design stage. In this study, statistical energy analysis (SEA) was adopted to predict vibro-acoustic features of extruded panels; the method was validated by comparing its results with those obtained by WFE/BE method. Also, to investigate the effect of the strip thickness on the vibro-acoustic features, 20 panel models having various strip thicknesses were formed and their results were validated with WFE/BE.
