초록

This letter presents a temperature-compensated automatic amplitude controller (AAC) loop for a class-C voltage controlled oscillator (VCO). A complementary to absolute temperature (CTAT) voltage generator adjusts the reference voltage of the AAC loop, which enables the VCO to compensate for the temperature effect on the phase noise. The VCO is designed and fabricated in Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) 0.18-mu m CMOS process technology. Measurement results show that the proposed VCO reduces the phase noise by 1.7 dB at 100( ?)C when compared with the VCO with a fixed reference voltage for the AAC loop. The phase noise of the VCO at room temperature is -140 dBc/Hz at 10-MHz offset frequency and the oscillation frequency of 10 GHz.
